What Is GCash?

GCash is popular in the Philippines and many Filipinos are already familiar with it. If you are already a user, you may proceed already to the next section (Why pay bills with GCash?).

However, if you are still exploring what GCash is, below is how it defines itself on its official website:

GCash is a BSP-regulated mobile money service that lets you buy load, purchase items, send and receive money, pay bills, and more using Globe, TM, or any other network. It's like having your wallet inside your phone giving you hassle-free and safer ways to go cashless. That's GCash!

Why Pay Bills With GCash?

Being a popular online money portal, GCash already has developed a mobile app that is readily available in the Playstore. Paying bills with GCash can be done by simply pressing a few buttons. Additionally, the company has partnered with various merchants that accept their bill payments straight from the mobile app.

In fact, with the recent updates, payment can now also be done by merely scanning the bar code found on the billing statement of certain merchants.

Paying bills with GCash, eliminates the need to physically go to a payment center and wait for long hours just to pay different bills. For instance, you don't need to wait in line just to pay for the following:

  • Meralco (an electric utility)
  • Maynilad (water utility)
  • Your cable TV monthly bill
  • BPI credit card monthly statement

Using the GCash mobile app's Pay Bills feature, the above bills can be paid anytime and anywhere.

How Many Bills Can Be Paid in GCash?

It actually depends on how much money the GCash account has. As long as the GCash balance can accommodate it, then you can pay to as many Billers as you can.

As can be seen on the screenshot, it is possible to pay at least 5,000 to three unique Billers with the balance shown above.

Questions & Answers

Question: Can I pay 2 or more electric bills using my only gcash account?

Answer: I think it is possible since it doesn't require certain info when paying. Based on things/comments that I read from other channels, some people are actually considering that as a payment center business. However, it would be nice to be reminded that there are limits regarding paying bills
