A Gracious Nashville Stay
One of the first things designer Richard Hallberg did to make this Nashville mansion feel less rigid was paint the red brick facade a soft putty color and lacquer the black shutters and front door to match the existing bluestone porch floor. A Grand Georgian Welcome
Designer Caroline Gidiere's home in Mountain Brook, Alabama, is a master renovation of a formerly dilapidated mansion. Gidiere and her architect and friend James F. Carter turned this home into a local landmark with a grand front porch that ensures you won't be able to help wondering what lies inside. Carter says the front door and its Philip T. Shutze–inspired surroundings brings the entrance down to "a more human scale," albeit exuberant as it is.

Arches in Alys
Architecture firm Khoury & Vogt turned this Alys Beach home into a globally inspired wonder, with inspiration from the Moors, Antigua, Guatemala, and Ancient Rome. The Florida-based firm also knows that the Sunshine State is notorious for sudden showers, so a beautiful, covered holding space at the front door was essential for the owners. A scalloped star motif weaves its way throughout the entire home, creating harmony and beautiful details all over.
